Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry at Mary, Queen of Heaven

The Youth Ministry at Mary, Queen of Heaven is done in partnership with the Diocese of St. Augustine and St. Luke Parish in Middleburg. St. Luke and Mary, Queen of Heaven share our youth minister, Ms. Rudie Perry. She will work with each individual parish, but for larger events will bring the two parishes together for events like Diocesan Youth Conference, summer events, retreats, and missions.

As we discover the needs of our youth, we hope to respond to them in a way that empowers our youth to find God. The goal of this ministry is to help our youth become true disciples of Jesus Christ. We will do this through youth meetings, prayer, instruction, and events.

  • We will meet with our youth
  • We will have regularly scheduled meetings
  • We will have small group opportunities
  • We will have other opportunities to be social as well
  • We will teach our youth how to pray through various methods:
  • Participation in the Mass and other sacraments
  • Through Lectio Divina with the scriptures
  • Through Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration
  • Through traditional Catholic prayers
  • Any other way that they need to pray
  • We will instruct our youth to deepen their faith by teaching them
  • Methods and types of prayer
  • Different ways to understand the theological and moral teachings of the Church
  • Through presentations and methodology outlined in Listen, Teach, Send (USCCB) and allowing them to question and showing them answers
  • Through participation in social justice and sharing the love of God
  • We will host events specifically for our youth
  • These will include parish events, regional events, and diocesan events
  • We will allow our youth to attend conferences
  • We will participate in missions, pilgrimages, and and service to the church and others

In order to achieve these goals, we ask for your support. You can support us with:

  • Prayers for our youth - especially prayers for enlightenment and protection
  • Learning effective ways to share the CCatholic faith with young people
  • Getting involved with our youth by joining the Core Team or a support ministry
  • Financially supporting the ministry through weekly offerings

Core Team

Our parish is looking for adults who would like to work with Rudie Perry, our  youth minister to form a core team to support the young people in our parish. The goal of our ministry is to help youth become aware of and thrive in the faith. The faith is more caught than taught.

We need a group of people who love Jesus, his church, and are faithful Catholics. We would like to have people from many walks of life and experiences as our youth have many experiences they are working through. Some are with military families, some are with traditional families, some have experienced the loss of a parent, and the list goes on.

If you prayerfully feel called to engage in this ministry please contact Ms. Rudie or Fr. Lawrence.
