Parent Resources
Parent resources available in your parish
Mary, Queen of Heaven Catholic Church desires to support parents in their important work of bringing their kids to Christ. We have invested in several resources to try to help you with the spiritual needs of your children. They are located in the bottom of the bookcase in our Narthex.
Children’s Collection Envelopes:
To allow our children to be more involved in Mass, we have reinstated the Children’s collection. Each Mass, we will put a chest on the floor in front of the Altar and invite our children to make an offering. We are not necessarily expecting a cash gift, but whatever the child would like to give. They can color the envelope, they can write a prayer, or they can place a drawing in it as well. We just want them to have an opportunity to be a part of the Offertory.
Children’s Missals
We have a set of missals that the parents can grab for their children that explain the Mass. We have both English and Spanish books for them to read. Just as we use our adult worship aids, we wanted them to have a worship aid as well. We do ask that they be returned to the bookcase so that they can be used by other families that may desire to use them as well.
Religious Education
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd - Level 1
We have opened a level 1 Atrium for 3 to 6 year-old children in our parish. The teaching style is Montessori and the Atrium is a place for our children to encounter God. The Atrium is a place of prayer and work for our littlest members where a trained Catechist will journey with them as they discover all the amazing things God wants them to know. If you are interested in our CGS program, please contact Fr. Lawrence in the office.
Religious Education
Our parish has classes for all grades in our Family Life Center. Our catechists work with our Director of Religious Education to work with our families to make sure that they can understand the faith. We hope to partner with parents, especially with our family nights during Advent and Lent.
Sacramental Prep
We also regularly have sacramental preparation classes for 1st Reconciliation, 1st Communion, and Confirmation. These sacraments of initiation are important in our life of faith. Each year, we start new classes to help those in need of sacraments to be able to receive them and to understand the gift Jesus had in mind when giving these sacraments to the Church.
If there is any other way we can support your family and help you grow spiritually, please let us know by contacting Fr. Lawrence or our Director of Religious Education Kathleen Marie Drop.
