Also know as the Stewardship of Time
Many people think that the stewardship of Time is the amount of time we spend at the church doing things. This is an incorrect way of viewing the Stewardship of Time. Time is not about what we do, but rather about who we are. The Catechsim of the Catholic Church states:
2566 Man is in search of God. In the act of creation, God calls every being from nothingness into existence. "Crowned with glory and honor," man is, after the angels, capable of acknowledging "how majestic is the name of the Lord in all the earth."1 Even after losing through his sin his likeness to God, man remains an image of his Creator, and retains the desire for the one who calls him into existence. All religions bear witness to men's essential search for God.
2567 God calls man first. Man may forget his Creator or hide far from his face; he may run after idols or accuse the deity of having abandoned him; yet the living and true God tirelessly calls each person to that mysterious encounter known as prayer. In prayer, the faithful God's initiative of love always comes first; our own first step is always a response. As God gradually reveals himself and reveals man to himself, prayer appears as a reciprocal call, a covenant drama. Through words and actions, this drama engages the heart. It unfolds throughout the whole history of salvation
We have the ability to know God, so therefore we must seek God. The human person primarily seeks God through prayer, Scripture study, and the Sacraments. All of these elements make up the Stewardship of Time. As when we stop to give back part of the day to God, we are participating in a relationship with God, and this is how we grow spiritually. So let us take advantage of the time God gives us to know to know God more and more.
We have many opportunities to help with the Stewardship of Time at Mary, Queen of Heaven. We have daily Mass, weekend Mass, every Friday we have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Feel free to come and pray with us.
What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is being a follower of Christ. A better would would probably be "Discipleship." It is a way of following Christ intentionally not accidentally, meaning that we choose to do what we are doing for the Praise and Glory of God, not just merely going through the motions. Stewardship is meant to be intentional and sacrificial. Meaning it should hurt a little to give back to God what God has given us so that we may apricate the gifts we have more.
Traditionally Stewardship has three important components: Time, Talent, and Treasure.
- Time is prayer.
- Talent is sharing my God given skills.
- Treasure is sharing our daily bread.
