Consolation Ministry
Consolation Ministry
Helping grieving families
The Main purpose of the consolation ministry is to meet with grieving families upon the loss of a loved one to help them share with the church information for the parish registry, as well as to help plan the funeral liturgy and coordinate a reception for the family.
We also meet with any parishioner who would like to pre-plan their funeral/reception in an effort to relieve their surviving family members of this responsibility upon the parishioner’s passing.
To be involved in this ministry, you must have compassion and empathy when meeting with families upon the passing of a loved one. Note: This ministry operates on one or two people meeting with the family as too many people in the room with the family can be overwhelming for them.
There are no regular meetings to be involved in this ministry. When the ministry is needed, the parish office contacts the members of the ministry after receiving notification of a loved one’s passing. The ministry will then reach out to the family to schedule a meeting, pray with them, and offer what support we can during this difficult time.
